FAMILY TRAVEL

Getaway to Valdelinares to enjoy the snow, a great plan for the family!

Promises must be kept, my friend, that’s how it is and the peppers are roasted. If at any given moment you say to your children “honey, I promise that when there is snow, your parents will take you to the snow” dear, I can tell you right now that you won’t get away without your children asking you over and over again every weekend if it has snowed yet…

This is what happened to us when we went on a trip to Alto Tajo to spend New Year’s Eve . On our way back to Valencia, the Vikings threw a tantrum in the car because they wanted to go to the snow, but of course, there wasn’t a single snowflake…

So we took advantage of the recent heavy snowfall in the Teruel area , in  Valdelinares and surrounding areas, to take a family getaway to the snow . What a wonderful day we had!

We got up early, prepared a little snack for lunch when we got hungry and headed towards Valdelinares , the highest town in all of Spain by the way, a fact I didn’t know and that my boyfriend told me about.

Valdelinares is less than 2 hours away from Valencia , and as it was a weekend in February there was practically no one on the road or in the area of the slopes. We were able to spend a super enjoyable morning in a forest area alone, it was a real pleasure.

We spent the whole morning playing in the snow, taking photos, videos, laughing and throwing snowballs at each other. The Vikings had a great time. Since they were well wrapped up in snow clothes, they never felt cold at any time, so the game was a total pleasure without worrying about getting cold because snow got in through some corner of their clothes.

And what was our surprise? It snowed on us !! I was extremely excited, yes… well… maybe you who are reading this are saying snow? But I am from Valencia , my friend, and it never snows here! The sea is all you want, but there is very little snow, almost none at all…

The coats are from Geographical Norway , prepared to withstand very low temperatures. On the bottom they put on a pair of tracksuit bottoms and on top some waterproof trousers, gloves, boots with 2 pairs of socks, an aviator hat with sheepskin inside in the purest Pyrenean style and something that is super important when going to the snow (I have learned this over the years…) is to take spare clothes like socks, gloves and a pair of tracksuit bottoms.

Exhausted after a morning of non-stop running and playing, we went to eat and recharge our energy in Mora de Rubielos , one of the most beautiful towns in Spain . We took a walk and headed back to Valencia.

A day to remember without a doubt, tell me, did you know the Valdelinares area? If not, I totally recommend it, Teruel exists! And thank God it does 🙂
