FAMILY TRAVEL

Honeymoon in the Canary Islands, we got married

We got married !! After 19 years together and 2 children together, we said I DO! On May 17, 2024, we went to court, in a very intimate civil wedding  , to formalize our love, a beautiful day that we will never forget, with our children as witnesses and sitting next to us being the best spectators at all times, very exciting…

The place chosen to go on our honeymoon? The Canary Islands ! We were really looking forward to getting to know the Canary Islands ! Specifically, we went to Tenerife and La Gomera , a week that gave us a lot to do, especially when you traveled as a couple. Why yes, my friend, we went on our honeymoon without children ! Our first trip in 10 years of more than 1 night without our children.

Yes, we have traveled to Toledo and short getaways without the Vikings but never so far and for a whole week, you can imagine the logistics you have to manage when it is a week in the middle of May and when the children still have school, I will only say blessed iaios! ha ha ha

FIRST STOP, ANAGA NATURAL PARK

North Tenerife was our first stop, the Anaga  Natural Park fascinated us, forests full of trees covered in moss, little paths lost among the mountains, trails hidden behind the fog among the clouds…

Taganana , Las Teresitas beach , Gaviotas beach , the Enchanted Forest , Roque Negro , Roque de las Bodegas beach , Almáciga beach … these were some of the places we visited in the first part of our vacation. I’m leaving you with some of the two million photos I took of these incredible places, to get you started…

LAGUNA NATURAL RESERVE

And more forests! Tenerife is a non-stop of nature reserves , charming little towns and lots of delicious food, because my dear, we are not going to overlook this… what do they eat in Tenerife ??!!, my goodness … I came to Valencia 2 kilos overweight, the papas arrugas and the mojo picón wherever you went to eat, the delicious fiesta meat , the grilled cheese … all of Tenerife’s gastronomy is amazing .

Traveling in May and being low season, we were practically alone, deserted beaches, empty forests and no crowds of people in any of the places we went, take note if you have to make a trip to the island 🙂

One of the things that fascinated me was the black volcanic sand that all the Canary Islands beaches have . As a Valencian who is used to the fine white sand of the Mediterranean coast, I was very surprised to see that it was exactly the same as ours, but black.

The entire island has black sand except for Las Teresitas beach , which has white sand since it was brought from the Sahara desert to the beach itself. Although the beach is beautiful, I have to say that what takes away its Canarian charm is its black volcanic sand

TENERIFE VILLAGES, GUACHINCHES AND DREAM BEACHES

We continued our route through the Canary Island of Tenerife, seeing little villages and pulling like pigs, ha ha ha… Garachico , La Orotava , La Laguna, Mirador de Chipeque … among other little villages that we went to visit, and between the town and the beach we stopped at the famous Guachinches .

What are Los Guachinches?  Most of them are in the northern part of the island. They are family-run establishments with traditional food at ridiculous prices, super abundant food and home-grown wine. They are located in strategic areas that you can only get to by car. It was one of the things I loved most about Tenerife.

So far, the first part of our honeymoon in Tenerife , too much information and too many photos to compress into a single post, now tell me, what do you think of what you are seeing? Did you know Tenerife ? I’ll read you in the comments! 🙂
