Travelling to Menorca Part II
5 days in Menorca with children is a lot to cover, so I split our trip to Menorca in two as there was a lot to tell. Here you can see the first days of our trip to Menorca with children , we visited Cala Galdana , Fornells , Cala Pregonda , Cala En Porter , Cala Sa Mesquida , Binibeca … and now we are going to finish our trip to the Balearic island in this post, in what has been one of the best family trips we have made at least for now… 🙂
DAY 4: CAVALLERIA BEACH, BELLAVISTA BEACH AND CALA TALAIER
Cavalleria , with its reddish sand and rocks, is a must-see if you like diving – it’s amazing! We snorkelled and on this trip we started Vikinga (9 years old) going a little deeper so she could get familiar with the snorkel, goggles, breathing… she was fascinated! She only spent a couple of hours with her father learning from him and listening to his tricks and tips to quickly get the hang of it.
The seabed of Menorca and more specifically of the beaches in the north, is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, fish of a thousand colours and sizes, Cavalleria beach is one of the best for snorkelling, so take note if it is one of your hobbies.
This day we decided to go back home for lunch, taking into account that from one end of the island to the other it is only 45-50 minutes to go from one end to the other of the island quite easily, our accommodation was in Cala Blanca , it was about 20 minutes by car from Cavalleria to our accommodation, so we ate, took a nap and got back to work in the afternoon!
To get to Cala Talaier you have to walk past Bellavista beach (about 15 minutes walk from each other), beautiful, like all the beaches in Menorca . Take a small detour and you will find yourself on the path to Cala Talaier .
Cala Talaier , this was the cove that awaited us in the afternoon, I can confirm and I confirm that it was the one I liked the most of all, I don’t know if it was because there was absolutely no one when we went and the natural state of the cove is much more appreciated, the walk to reach the cove from where you park was brutal, beautiful, surrounded by pines, trees and vegetation, a true wonder of nature.
DAY 5: PLATJA ALGAIARENS, VISIT TO CIUTADELLA AND SUNSET AT PUNTA NATI
The last day of beaches and baths we had to squeeze it to the max, the next day we left very early from the house in Cala Blanca (our accommodation) to catch the flight back to Valencia , in the morning we opted again for a beach in the north , specifically the beach Es Tancats – Algaiarens , brutal! It didn’t matter which beach you went to, they are all beautiful, clean, with fine sand, crystal clear turquoise waters .
We couldn’t leave Menorca without visiting Ciutadella . We had seen photos and it had been highly recommended to us. What we didn’t know was that we were going to love it so much. Cobbled streets, houses with perfect facades and paintings, the whole city is super clean, well-kept and with a special charm as it was the eve of San Juan . We were fascinated by Ciutadella .
As a final touch, we went to see the sunset at one of the most magical places where I have seen the sun set, Punta Nati .
Menorca has something that hooks you to it, it’s like a special magnetism that makes you feel at ease, feel good. Watching the sunset that summer afternoon from Punta Nati I felt like a special connection with that island, as if a little piece of me stayed in its waters that summer, in that sunset.
Menorca has made me fall in love with it, it has made us fall in love with it! We will definitely be back. We have left out several beaches and coves to see, such as Macarella and Macarelleta (they told us that it was not advisable to go there because of the wind that was blowing on those days, as there was a sea of seaweed that was impossible to swim in), without a doubt the best excuse to come back 😉
The sunset at Punta Nati was the final touch to one of the best trips we have ever made as a family , 5 days of enjoying the island to the full, getting to know all its corners, its gastronomy, the beautiful coastal towns such as Fornells or Ciutadella .
Menorca is not a goodbye, it is a see you soon…
