Weekend in Cuenca, visit to the Enchanted City

Cuenca enchanted city

Another trip for our album of memories! We recently went on a trip through  Asturias , we visited  Gijón , we also did the Senda del Oso  and visited the Brañas de La Pornacal , in Somiedo , and we were craving for suitcases, so in this case we escaped to Cuenca , just over 2 hours from Valencia by car, we enjoyed the Valencian Community long weekend (October 9) , this year it fell on a Monday, so we were able to escape to breathe fresh air.of coursethe mountain!

This time we traveled as a family, with my in-laws, my brothers-in-law and my nephew. To say that the little one had a great time doesn’t do it justice, and she feels true devotion for her older cousin, and in turn little Batusito feels that same devotion for both of them, so they complement each other and make a good tandem 😉

Where we had our accommodation, in a HUGE mansion in Huerta del Marquesado , we were within a 1-hour drive of all the most interesting tourist sites in the area, such as Cuenca city , the source of the Cuervo River , and the Enchanted City , which was the first place chosen to spend a fun day.

THE ENCHANTED CITY, IN CUENCA

The Enchanted City is a highly recommended place to go with children if you are going to be in the area. I went many years ago and I remembered it as cool, but this time seeing it through the eyes of the little ones it seemed like a fairy tale.

You leave your car in a parking lot, go to the ticket office , and for the modest price of €5 per person, free for children up to 4 years old  (yes, very strong, I don’t understand this thing about charging you to go to the mountains, I find it outrageous), they will give you a map so you can see the “monuments” or scientifically speaking the  eroded rocks that make up the Enchanted City , stones that make shapes of figures, animals, faces of people…

The route is circular , you can’t get lost, and it lasts approximately 2 hours , although if you go with children it can last from 2 hours to 4, it all depends on how adventurous you and the chicks are ^^ That said, find out before you go because there are schedules , and guided tours are also available .

You will need to bring water and some food in a backpack , as there is no beach bar inside the Enchanted City , but there is one at the exit and in the parking lot, comfortable clothes and shoes for walking in the mountains, although there is no difficulty on the way, some sections with stairs and some slight slopes, but little else, oh, and you can enter with dogs 🙂

There are many esplanades and areas where you can stop to eat, there are benches where you can stop and waste bins, although I don’t know why there is never an abundance of the latter…

I’ll leave you with some images of what you’ll see if you decide to visit the Enchanted City of Cuenca . Of course, if you’re going with babies or a small child, you’ll have to carry them in a baby carrier, no stroller.

What did you think of the little walk I gave you around the Enchanted City of Cuenca? Did you already know it? Have you been there before? As you can see, the eroded stones are incredibly cool and HUGE . I could have revealed the names of some of the stones in the photos, but you’ll have to discover that for yourself when you go in person…
